Barrie Wells

Katie Hewison

Katie first became involved with the charity when she was recruited to the ‘Trigold programme’ converting from distance running into Olympic distance triathlon. She is a former World duathlon champion, Commonwealth mountain running champion and was a member of the elite GB triathlon team for 5 years. Educated at Loughborough University, Katie now manages the development of the Trust and the Box4Kids programme.  In her spare time Katie enjoys spending time with her family, coaching young athletes and running over the Rivington hills!

Lucy Merritt

Lucy coordinates all the nominations and logistics for our Box4Kids events, working with hospitals and venues to ensure our events run smoothly. She has a degree in Coaching and Sport Development and has a huge passion for gymnastics, formerly competing at national level. Lucy enjoys travelling and surfing, with Bali being her favourite destination.

 Donna Carter

Donna is the Events and PR Assistant at the Trust.  She assists with inviting deserving children to attend Box4Kids events and ensuring they have a fantastic VIP experience, whilst helping to promote the Trust’s activities through PR.

She graduated from The University of Central Lancashire with a degree in Fashion and Brand Promotion with Retail Management.  She enjoys city breaks, travelling to new places and cooking; her favourite food being Italian.

Emma Stevenson

Emma is the Events Coordinator at the Trust. Assisting with our Box4Kids events, she ensures deserving children have the most fantastic experience and make special, lifelong memories.

Emma has an Events Management degree, graduating from Manchester Metropolitan University.

She likes to travel as much as possible, always keen for the next adventure and loves spending time exploring the great outdoors!

Alex Brown

Alex is the Events Coordinator at the Trust. Assisting with inviting deserving children to Box4Kids events, she ensures all guests have an amazing VIP experience.

Alex graduated from University College Birmingham with a degree in Hospitality and Events Management.

In her spare time Alex enjoys walking in the Lake District, travelling, and spending time with family.

 Mike Waterton

Mike has worked in the Insurance industry for the last 30 years, working with a wide range of insurance companies and brokers. In his spare time he enjoys travelling, walking in the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales, and following Yorkshire CCC and Leeds United.

Izzy Symes

Izzy is the Events Coordinator at the Trust.  Assisting with our Box4Kids events, she ensures deserving children have an incredible experience and make lifelong memories. She also assists with the Trust’s PR.

Izzy graduated from the University of Birmingham with a degree in Law with German Law.  In her spare time Izzy enjoys running and hiking around the trails of Lancaster and the Lake District, always looking for new places to explore.

Matthew Wells

Matthew is an Online Marketing Analyst and has been involved in the financial services market for many years. Matthew shares his father Barrie’s passion for many sports and enjoys travelling across the World to attend major sporting events. He enjoys keeping fit through half marathon races, triathlons and open water swimming events. He is a huge Liverpool FC fan and has taken a personal interest in the Trust’s Box4Kids scheme, providing regular support to its development.

Philippa Rothwell

Philippa is Barrie’s long standing business partner and together they founded Premierline Direct in 2001. As Deputy Chief Executive, Philippa managed a number of business critical functions within Premierline Direct, including operations and IT/Internet development. Prior to this Philippa had held various positions within the IT and Business Development departments of AXA Direct. Premierline Direct was sold in 2006 and Philippa left the company in 2008. She then rejoined Barrie to create the Barrie Wells Trust and is involved in the ongoing management of the Trust.

Jackie Wild

Jackie is the newest Trustee to join the Barrie Wells Trust team and brings a great deal of personal experience and enthusiasm to the charity. Jackie and her youngest son Elliot, who was battling with Leukaemia, attended a Box4Kids event at Liverpool FC. Shortly after Elliot very sadly lost his battle with cancer and Jackie then took a sabbatical year from her role at John Lewis to raise money for Claire House. She has since been very actively involved with the Barrie Wells Trust helping to host events and positively sharing her story.

Madeleine Fletcher

We are delighted to welcome Madeleine Fletcher to the Barrie Wells Trust team who joins us a Trustee.  Madeleine has a wealth of experience across the hospital sector including Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, where she was first introduced to the Barrie Wells Trust helping to co-ordinate patient nominations for the LFC executive box.  She is currently the Head of Fundraising at the Walton Centre in Liverpool, which is a specialist neuroscience centre for adults, but she has always retained her commitment and passion for the work of the Barrie Wells Trust!  We are looking forward to having Madeleine’s expertise within our team as we continue to grow the charity’s Box4Kids initiative
