Barrie is absolutely delighted to be recognised as a Fan of the Decade by Liverpool FC and Standard Chartered, who celebrate their 10 year partnership this year. He was nominated for this award, not only for being a lifelong Liverpool FC supporter, but for all his work and dedication to Box4Kids which started at Anfield in 2010. To date over 2,500 seriously ill children and their loved ones have enjoyed a Box4Kids experience at Barrie’s LFC box, watching their favourite team in VIP style and enjoying the exclusive extras such as placing the corner flags, sitting in Klopps seat, museum tours and meeting players.
To celebrate his award, Barrie was invited to Anfield at the end of August where he was interviewed, enjoyed an exclusive tour of the stadium and collected his personalised trophy. Only 10 LFC fans were awarded this special recognition and Barrie is extremely proud and honoured to receive this award.
‘I am so pleased to receive such a wonderful accolade from Liverpool FC and Standard Chartered’ says Barrie. ‘I have always been an avid Liverpool supporter so to be recognised as one of their Fans of the Decade is a huge honour. I never imagined Box4Kids being as big as it is now when I first started the initiative at Anfield in 2010, the support from the club has been incredible. I am looking forward to large scale events getting back up and running so we can continue to invite even more seriously ill and disabled children to Box4Kids events across the UK.’
