Bluey’s Big Play Delights Box4Kids Guests

Our guests outside the First Direct Arena

In June 2024, the Barrie Wells Trust Box4Kids initiative invited 300 guests to attend Bluey’s Big Play. Each family received the VIP treatment in one of the 24 executive boxes donated at the First Direct Arena. From the comfort of the box, seriously ill and disabled children could watch Bluey dance across the stage.

8-year-old Harry knows all the Bluey catch phrases!

On Friday 28th June, Harry went to see Bluey’s Big Play with his mum, grandma and brother Teddy. Harry felt very special and thought the whole day was very posh!

Harry received a liver transplant and deserved a treat for being the superstar he is. His mum nominated him through the Box4Kids website after hearing from a friend about the initiative.

Harry got in touch to say ‘Wow what an experience! Mummy and Daddy always tell me I am a VIP but today thanks to Barrie Wells Trust, Leeds Arena and the wonderful box donor I was FOR REAL LIFE!’

4-year-old Darcie loves her dolls, cooking, creating and Bluey!

On Saturday 29th June, Darcie went with her mum, dad and brother Louie to enjoy watching Bluey’s Big Play. Darcie has her face painted as Bingo and danced and laughed along with the show, she loved the whole experience.

Darcie was diagnosed with pre B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukaemia in May 2023 and has been undergoing treatment at the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital. She’s an incredibly brave, lovely girl in definite need of a treat, which is what Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital thought when they nominated Darcie to attend Bluey’s Big Play.

Dad Andrew said ‘It was a great experience for Darcie and our family as we loved our weekend in Leeds. We are very grateful for the opportunity and experience that Box4Kids have given us.’ ‘Staff from RMCH approached us to ask if Darcie was a fan of Bluey and whether we would like to go to this event – of course we said yes!’

Get Involved

It is due to the generosity of box donors and the support of hospitals and parents that we can help create such special memories for children like Darcie and Harry. Not only does being in an executive box provide children with a VIP experience, but it is also a safe and secure environment for children unable to watch events from standard seating. If you have an executive box or know of a seriously ill or disabled child deserving of a VIP experience, please do get in touch or fill out a nomination form on our website.
