Box4Kids at the Farnborough International Airshow 2024

On Friday 26th July, the Barrie Wells Trust’s Box4Kids initiative invited over 200 guests to the Farnborough International Airshow. Our guests enjoyed an exciting day of touring aircraft, meeting pilots and watching the incredible air displays. Accenture, ATI Metals, Deutsche Aircraft, Embraer, Honeywell and Kallman each donated a corporate chalet for our families to experience the Airshow.

This is the fourth time Box4Kids has attended the Farnborough International Airshow. The continued success owes itself not only to the overwhelming generosity of box and experience donors, but staff and hosts. Their preparation begins months in advance and this Box4Kids event couldn’t go ahead without them.

Pioneers of Tomorrow

The Farnborough International Airshow dedicated the final day to inspiring the next generation of aerospace leaders. Our guests toured around the airshow boarding helicopters, military aircraft and commercial airlines. Escorted by US pilots, they enjoyed interactive experiences provided by AIA, BAE, Boeing and Leonardo. The children boarded some of their favourite planes and helicopters, which proved to be a highlight of the day!

Jamie’s mum got in touch to say ‘Huge thank you to the Barrie Wells Trust – Box4Kids for treating Jamie to a fabulous day out at Farnborough International Airshow! Boys loved every minute of it and Jamie can’t believe he got to sit in his favourite helicopter Black Hawk.’

Anna’s mum said ‘We would like to say just how well we were looked after from start to finish. Everyone from your volunteers to the USA teams that let us visit them, and the location was great!! Thank you so much. Our highlight was boarding the P8 reconnaissance aircraft – you see it on films etc but being able to be there was a memory-maker, for sure.’

VIP Viewing Experience

Back in the chalets, families enjoyed an exclusive viewing experience and plenty of additional extras! Stationed inside the Deutsche Aircraft chalet was a show stopping prototype plane. Meanwhile, Embraer and Accenture gifts received visits from sniffer dogs showcasing their training.

Joshua’s mum got in touch to say ‘What an incredible day! Superb chalet hosts thank you, and an amazing show, itinerary and goody bags put together by the awesome Barrie Wells Trust team.’

Delphi’s mum let us know ‘We had a thoroughly brilliant day and the chalet made it that bit more special. The views, the facilities. We couldn’t have asked for more.’

Get Involved

It is due to the generosity of box donors and the support of hospitals and parents that we can help create such special memories for seriously ill and disabled children. Not only does being in an executive box provide children with a VIP experience, but it is also a safe and secure environment for guests unable to watch events from standard seating. If you have an executive box or know of a seriously ill or disabled child deserving of a VIP experience, please do get in touch.
