On Friday 23rd December we had the pleasure of inviting Box4Kids’ 4,000th guest to an executive box at the O2 Arena for the matinee performance of Disney on Ice presents Frozen. The box was donated by BDO International, a longstanding supporter of Box4Kids.
Seven-year old Thomas was delighted to enjoy the show with his mum Joanna from the best seats in the house, whilst of course being treated to exceptional VIP hospitality.
“Thank you so much for allowing Thomas and me to join, we both had a wonderful day. Thomas thoroughly enjoyed his Box4Kids experience and said it made the excitement of Christmas last longer watching the fun and eating éclairs and popcorn like royalty! It was better than the film!”
Thomas added, “I’ve really been looking forward to this week, as I knew I was coming to watch Frozen… and then it’s Christmas!”
Diagnosed with Tetralogy of Fallots (TOF), a group of four structural abnormalities within the heart, Thomas had open heart surgery at just 16 weeks old.
As Thomas’ own muscle is growing in his pulmonary artery, a condition no one knows the cause of, he has to be monitored for life in case it reoccurs. Joanna explains, “We try not to think about it and treat him as a normal child, as the psychological impacts are often as great as the medical ones.”

Barrie Wells, the founder and funder of the Box4Kids initiative, was pleased to welcome Thomas and Joanna to the box at the O2.
“I am delighted to see how Box4Kids has grown, especially in the past year, and cannot thank all box donators enough for their support. It was an absolute pleasure to meet both Thomas and Joanna at the O2 last week and I look forward to organising many more unforgettable experiences for brave children like Thomas in the future.”
Box4Kids started with Barrie’s own box at Liverpool Football Club in 2010 and has since then developed into over 70 venues across the UK through collaboration with over 100 companies, venues and private box holders.
Do you have an executive box and want to help us provide seriously ill children with a day to remember? We would love to hear from you!
